This Chinese inspired cabinet is made of figured cherry panels with carved elements and custom made brass hardware. The interior of the drawers are quarter sawn sycamore. The hinges for the doors are integrated into the sides of the doors as posts that extend into the base and top. If the door is swung all the way open it then can be lifted out of a hole, pushed toward the middle of the cabinet and lowered to release it from the top and the cabinet itself. The sides of the unit are made on an angle , which means that the hinged sides of the doors and drawers are at his angle so when the doors are open they look as though they are flaring up like wings of a bird.
I made this from a picture that was less than 2 inches square !
